What is TB-500?
The name “TB-500” is used commercially for peptide material associated with thymosin beta-4 (Tβ4) biology. A published analytical study identified an N-terminal acetylated 17–23 fragment of human thymosin beta-4 (Ac-LKKTETQ) in a product marketed as TB-500. Because commercial naming and composition can vary, data on full-length thymosin beta-4 should not automatically be attributed to every material sold as TB-500.
What does thymosin beta-4 research investigate?
Thymosin beta-4 is an actin-binding peptide studied in cell migration, angiogenesis, wound-repair signaling, inflammation, apoptosis and tissue remodeling. Much of the mechanistic evidence comes from laboratory and animal models, although full-length thymosin beta-4 has also been evaluated in human clinical research.
Cell migration and angiogenesis research
Published Tβ4 studies describe effects on endothelial-cell migration, adhesion, tube formation and angiogenic processes. The actin-binding region of Tβ4 is considered important in cytoskeletal remodeling and cell movement.
Wound-healing and tissue-repair research
Animal studies and reviews of full-length Tβ4 report accelerated dermal repair in several experimental wound models. Human studies of full-length Tβ4 have also investigated chronic wound healing. These findings do not establish a clinical effect for a separately supplied TB-500 research material.
Muscle, tendon and connective-tissue repair
Online searches often connect TB-500 with muscle, tendon, ligament and connective-tissue repair. The scientific basis for those discussions largely comes from broader thymosin beta-4 biology involving actin dynamics, cell migration, vascular responses and tissue-remodeling pathways. Controlled clinical evidence for commercial TB-500 products in human muscle or tendon repair is not established.
Inflammation research
Tβ4 research includes modulation of inflammatory signaling and scar-related pathways in experimental models. This is mechanistic research and should not be interpreted as evidence that a commercial TB-500 product treats inflammation.
